Fortel Team completes Charity Bike Ride

We are proud to share the news that the charitable event we organized has been successful. On the day 22 riders took part in a 100mile bike ride challenge from Birmingham to Bath and raised over £7,000 in support of: The Railway Children, St Giles Hospice and The Homeless in India.

On 5th September, as planned, all arrived at The Bullring at 5:45am and after a health & safety briefing the groups departed The Bullring between 6am and 630am to start the event using the pre planned route through busy towns, peaceful villages, high altitude hills and beautiful country sides.

The riders encountered some drizzle in the first hour but the weather was generally kind on the long British summer day.

The first group arrived at the final destination The Roman Bath at 1530 and the last group arrived at 1630. 21 cyclists managed to complete the challenge in 10hours having endured a first puncture after four miles, followed by five more, a broken pedal during the course of the day. The only potentially serious incident occurred, 2miles before finish line, involved one of our team members being hit by a car while he was standing on a pavement for a drink break, causing a minor injury from which he has now recovered.

Our chairman & other Board member were waiting on the finish line to congratulate all participants and present medals.

To celebrate the day sharing experiences over a well deserved meal!
